Walter "Larry" Merritt, III

March 3, 1953 - June 28, 2025

Larry grew up in the Wheaton, MD, area. He worked as a machinist and mechanic, and because of his love of animals, he worked many years as an Assistant Manager at a non-profit organization that benefited Animal Rescue Corps and many other animal rescues, shelters and causes. During his lifetime he owned many dogs, including his last and most favorite, a shelter rescue named “Furgie”. 

Larry was a huge car enthusiast, building hot rods and showing them at DC’s World of Wheels and many other car shows and competitions. He was awarded many first place trophies and plaques attesting to his amazing craftsmanship. He also was a member of a couple different car clubs. He also enjoyed motorcycles. 

He will be forever missed by his longtime partner, Jeanie, and his children Stacey and Gregory.
