It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Stanley Guisto, affectionately known as Uncle Tom, Big Tom, B.U.T., and the Navy Vet, who departed this world on February 15, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on March 13, 1940, in New York, New York, Tom lived a life filled with stories, laughter, and an unwavering love for his family.

Tom proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, a role that shaped many of his experiences and stories. He was a natural storyteller (sometimes on repeat), much to the delight of listeners who grew fond of his well-rehearsed anecdotes. His remarkable journey continued into a long and fulfilling career with the federal government, where he lent his expertise to various divisions, including social security, personnel management, and the customs service.

Family meant everything to Tom. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially the young ones, whom he lovingly referred to as "the rugrats." His great sense of humor and warmth were constants in family gatherings, where he could often be found regaling everyone with tales of days gone by. Tom’s laughter had a way of filling the room, creating an atmosphere of joy that everyone cherished.

An ardent traveler, Tom had a zest for life that took him around the world, with his most recent adventure to Italy being a highlight. He delighted in the experience of trying new foods, especially when surrounded by those he cared about. For him, sharing a meal was more than just eating; it was a celebration of family bonds and a time for creating memories.

As we come to terms with the void left by his departure, we know that Tom will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His kindness, infectious laughter, and devotion to family will remain in our hearts forever. The legacy he leaves behind is one of love, humor, and an appreciation for life's moments, big and small. Rest in peace, dear Tom; your stories will continue to echo in our hearts.
