Ruth Elaine Young was born on April 24, 1953, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Pastor Evan Young and Gladys Young. She peacefully passed away on August 17, 2025.

Well known as Ms. Elaine, she will be remembered for her strength and for beating the odds. She carried a no-nonsense attitude, yet always found a way to remain down-to-earth and lighthearted, bringing joy and laughter in her own unique way.

Her deep love for music was a constant throughout her life. She had the singing voice of a songbird, and for those who knew her, music wasn’t just a passion, it was her comfort and healing, even up until her very last day. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and song.

She is survived by her 4 children- Glenn, Kim, Dexter & Mercedes. Her 7 grandchildren-Marcus, Marcel, Taivon, Elijah, Kiarra, Khalil & Morgan and 2 great-grandchildren Logan & Leia.

In lieu of a traditional funeral service, the family will be holding a candlelight vigil in her honor on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 7:30pm at 14930 Silver Trl Ln Laurel, Md 20707. Candles will be provided, and friends and loved ones are welcome to bring balloons if they wish.

The family extends heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers during this time.
