Rosanne Urick

February 25, 1952 — May 1, 2025

Germantown, MD

Rosanne Urick, affectionately known as Ro, was born on February 25, 1952, to her adoring parents Nicholas and Doris Hozik of Washington, DC. Not long after her birth, the Hoziks became residents of Maryland. Ro, Nick, Kathy and Janet all attended Glenelg High School, whereas Ro capped off her young years immersed in her academics and sports. Rosanne was on the gymnastics & track teams and lettered four years on the cheerleading squad. She continued three more cheerleading years at Frostburg State University.

A proud graduate of Frostburg State University, Rosanne earned her bachelor's degree in physical Fitness Education, a field that aligned perfectly with her passionate commitment to health, wellness, and the joy of movement. Throughout her life, she would inspire countless individuals to embrace a sports lifestyle, leaving behind a legacy marked by encouragement and a personal touch that made fitness feel attainable and fun. It was here that she met Thom on a blind date for a frat party.

Rosanne's heart was as boundless as her enthusiasm for life. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 51 years, Thom, who stood by her side through all of life's seasons. Her son, Tony, and daughter-in-law Marissa, were not just her family but also her brightest joys, representing the love and laughter that filled their home.

She was cherished by her sisters and brother, Kathy (Leland) Cheyne, Janet (Shiela) Taylor, Nick (Wendy) Hozik who carried memories of shared childhood experiences and the laughter they shared. Rosanne shared special bonds with her brother-in-law Andrew (Christine), Patrick (Anne Marie) and sister-in law Cheryl (Arch) Noah. Each of them will carry with them the fond memories of gatherings filled with warmth and joy, moments that will echo in their hearts forever.

A devoted aunt, Rosanne’s love extended to many nieces and nephews, each of whom will miss her dearly. Her nurturing spirit, infectious laughter, and the kindness she showed to others made Rosanne a beloved figure in her family and community.

Though our hearts are heavy with her absence, we remember Rosanne for the light she brought into our lives - a light that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate a life well-lived, where every moment was enriched by her laughter, her attentive nature, and her unwavering love. Rosanne will forever be missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
