In Memory of our beloved Mother, Phyllis Ewald

Phyllis was born in upstate New York, to parents Alvaretta Sackett Weeks and Howard Weeks. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Keith Weeks, Neil Weeks, Kendall Weeks, Sherrill Weeks, and her sister, Gretchen Weeks Gallo. She is survived by her brother David Weeks; her four children, Jennie Broadwell, husband Ed, Bill Graf, Jr., wife Kate, Kim DiBiasio, husband Mark, and Mary Logan, husband Tom; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She grew up surrounded by her five brothers and, at long last, a baby sister. Family love, country life, and the lively antics of seven siblings shaped the foundation of her unique outlook on life.

She and her first husband, Bill Graf, both sharing the love of country life, moved to Maryland. Together they raised four children. The family was involved in the local community and joined the Presbyterian Church and Phyllis served on the committee that “called” the new young Pastor. In her professional life, Phyllis worked as a medical secretary and, through her skill and leadership, advanced to running the organization. She later worked privately for the company’s owner and his wife until their passing, earning their lifelong trust and friendship.Phyllis loved people, animals, and nature. A Master Gardener, she filled her homes and gardens with flowers and color. She enjoyed learning about history, art, and culture, and traveled widely with curiosity and enthusiasm. She had a sharp wit and a flair for fun—quick to tell a joke, stage a prank, or perform. Whether dancing with “The Carolina Bells” or on stage with “The Little Theatre,” Phyllis entertained with energy and style.Phyllis will be missed deeply as she was always ready for adventure, laughter, and a life lived with spirit.
