Clarence Julian Butt, 77, of Gaithersburg, Maryland passed away on September 17, 2026. He was a proud U.S. Marine and a longtime postman, and to the people on his route he was a friend as much as the man who brought the mail.

Known as simply "Sonny" to his family and friends, Clarence found his joy in the simple things: a good round of golf, and a guitar in his hands. He had a gift for music and a voice that lit up a room, and he was never happier than when he was singing for the people he loved.

He leaves behind his sister, Joyce Clarke; his niece, Veronica Godfrey; his nephew, Rick Hoyle; and many other family and friends who will treasure the memory of his warmth, his laughter, and his songs.
