Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Carolyn Lee Slavin

July 12, 1946 - March 14, 2026

After a full and happy life, Carolyn Lee Slavin passed away peacefully at home on March 14th. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final days.

Carolyn was born to Raymond and Jackie Thorne. She had a way of making life feel full𑁋full of love, full of laughter, and full of family. She shared 35 special years with her devoted husband George, building a life rich with memories and quiet joys together. Her sons, Wes and Nelson, were the pride of her life, and she later welcomed their wives, Ramona, Jeri, and Rita, with open arms as part of the family. Carolyn’s heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren, Emily, Shannon, and Alex. She never missed a dance recital, band concert, or game. She also adored her great-grandchildren, Grace and Isaiah Jr., who always managed to make her smile.

Carolyn’s love extended far and wide. In addition to her immediate family, she was surrounded by a loving extended family and friends, including her sister Linda Mariast, her brother, Donnie Thorne, Pamela Mariast, Donald Minter, and many others who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

She could often be found with flour on her hands, baking something sweet for the people she loved, or with a paintbrush in hand, creating many paintings that would later decorate the walls of her and her loved ones’ homes. She cherished family gatherings, especially ones filled with Maryland crabs, belly-aching laughter, and stories that would continue to get brought up for years after. When she wasn’t baking, painting, or spending time with family, Carolyn spent time at her favorite place, the ocean.

Her warmth, her selflessness, her creativity, and her deep love for family left an impact on everyone who knew her. Carolyn’s life was a celebration of connection, joy, strength, and generosity. The memories she made will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to everyone who were lucky enough to know her.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Accent Care of Greater Baltimore, who cared for her like family throughout her time in hospice care.

And when you see a beautiful sunset, just know that Carolyn is up there painting it for you.
