A man of extraordinary charisma, passion, and love for people and music- Benjamin Franklin Edwards Jr. passed away on October 10, 2025 at the age of 68 after a long courageous battle with diabetes.
Ben was Born to Lucille Brown and Benjamin Franklin Edwards Sr, on August 6th, 1957 in Washington DC. Ben, also known by family and close friends as “Hippo,” was raised in a large family of six brothers and six sisters. He graduated —— High School in ——, and continued on to pursue his passion for music by obtaining his associate’s degree at ——
His passion of music led him a group of several band members that created the Impressarios jazz band in the 1970s. During his time with the band, they became a local and international sensation, with local
shows and numerous overseas tours. In his time with the band, he met his late wife, Beverly Edwards, whom he would later marry in 1983. Ben also created and owned a successful home improvement company, B and E builders, alongside his brother, David Browne. Ben and his wife are survived by their 3 children- Mark Edwards, Stephanie Edwards, and Nicolle Legendre.
Ben was a devoted husband and caregiver to his late wife, for 27 years before she passed in 2007 after her long battle with Lupus. He was also a long time caregiver to his daughter Stephanie. He was a loving father, husband, brother, friend, and Jazz musician who shared his heart and passion with the world.
