A Life of Love, Laughter, and Song

Emy Anne Clima Gesite & Clyde Yvonne Clima-Banez

In loving memory of

Alvenia Clima Rubio

October 26, 1976 – September 27, 2026

Some people become so woven into the story of a family that it is difficult to imagine that story without them. Others leave pieces of themselves in the hearts of everyone they meet.

Our beloved Mama Beng—Bet or Venia, as she was lovingly called by many—was both.

Survived by her husband, Jerome Rubio, and their four children, Nikki, Makki, Lakki, and Luke, Mama Beng was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. Her family was at the heart of her life, and much of the love, strength, warmth, and joy she gave was poured into her home and the people closest to her.

She was also deeply loved as a sister, aunt, grandmother, relative, and friend. To her nieces and nephews, she was Mama Beng: strong, witty, warm, full of life, and someone whose presence could make even an ordinary gathering feel special.

And no family gathering ever felt quite complete without her singing.

Mama Beng was never far from a song. Her voice became part of our reunions and family memories. Among the songs she loved, Amazing Grace held a special place in her heart. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, and simply enjoying the blessing of everyone being together.

Her last season was not an easy one. Her body grew tired, but she held on for as long as she could.

She fought bravely, and that strength from the Lord is something we will always remember about her.

Today, our hearts are heavy because those gatherings will be different without her. But even in the sadness of saying goodbye, we choose to be grateful.

Grateful that Mama Beng was here.

Grateful for the years we were given with her.

Grateful for the love, laughter, songs, and memories she leaves behind.

Grateful that her life became part of ours.

There is comfort in knowing that the love she gave does not end with her passing.

It remains in the stories we will continue to tell, in the songs that will remind us of her, in every family gathering where her absence will be felt, and in the little moments when something suddenly brings Mama Beng back to mind.

Most of all, we find comfort in the hope that is in the Lord.

Because she placed her faith in Christ’s finished work on Calvary, we trust that Mama Beng is now in the presence of the God who knew her before any of us did and loved her through every season of her life.

We are thankful for the hope of Heaven and for the assurance that, for those who are in Christ, this goodbye is not forever.

And now, the song she loved so well carries an even deeper meaning.

Amazing Grace was more than one of Mama Beng’s favorite songs. It speaks of the grace she trusted in—the grace of God that saved her, sustained her through every season, and, in the end, carried her home.

Perhaps that is the most beautiful comfort of all: that the woman who loved reunions and singing so much is now with her Creator, where there is no more pain, singing of His amazing grace!

So, Mama Beng, thank you.

Until the day we gather and sing together again. Until we meet again.

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15
